Lowdham Back On Track
Lowdham Cricket Club Midweek Team v Luxfer CC
A perfect evening in mid June saw
Lowdham did little in preventing the 2 opening M.P.C.C. batmen getting to their victory total. Man of the Match TJ bowled well as did B.Autin and M.Dawn. But another under whelming performance sees the Lightings lose 2 in a row.
C+ - Must try harder
Lightning Nicked for Attempted Battery
Lowdham Midweek Team v Mansfield Police CC
On a lovely evening down at the LCG, Lowdham were asked to bat on a slow but steady wicket. Not getting off to the best start, Lowdham lost 3 wicket in the first two overs. Some resemblance of order was then maintained by some composed and aggressive batting by J.Mannners, J.Noall and M.Dawn. Silly running, good fielding and under performance meant that from their 18 overs the Lightning managed a below par score of 84.

Lowdham Made to Look Like Berties at Colston
The Green Caps went down to a disappointing defeat against Colton Bassett on Sunday, on a day when too many players went missing. Playing away at unbeaten Colston Bassett, the Green Caps were always going to need a strong performance and too many players didn’t turn up and perform to their best.
The bowling and fielding was the main problem. At times lethargic in the field and generally bowling too short on a pitch that offered help if you pitched up, Lowdham let Colston amass an out of reach 248 from their allotted 40. Bassett’s number 3, given a life on 2 went on to batter 92 not out. Dale Rippey and Mark Dawn escaped huge punishment, but Greaves and Jack Dawn were not at their best after superb performances in previous Sunday Games.
The reply got off to a somewhat slow and stuttering start as Bassett bowled tightly wicket to wicket allowing little room. Cameos of 37 from Naaké and 36 from Bad Manners while spirited, were simply not enough to get anywhere near the target and defeat was sample for the first time on a Sunday, by 110 runs.
It is now vital the Green Caps bounce back when back on home turf against 100% Risley next Sunday.

Lowdham 2nd XI a massive 305 (Akram 148) - wow!
Lowdham Lightnings - Shocker!
Radcliffe Midweek Select XI v Lowdham Lightnings (20th May)
A warm evening in Radcliffe saw Lowdham lose the toss and be asked to field. John opening the bowling, found the going tricky against some top top order batsman. Alas not as tricky as Chris 'Colly' Dutton who was unfortunately punished for not doing anything particulary wrong and was unavoidably replaced by Simon. Noall was replaced by Lloyd, who was unceremoniously spanked more than several times out of the ground. Steve replaced Lloyd and despite some decent bowling, found himself equally spanked. In all only 3 wickets fell in the Radcliffe innings, one each to Simon, Damien and John. Radcliffe amassing a massive 211 off their allotted 18 overs. Despite the massive score Lowdham fielded very well.
Now you would think that Lowdham wouldn't have a chance against a colosull score such as that, and in most cases you would be right.....And in fact in this case you would be right too. Louis opening the batting performed well and indeed got the man of the match award for his batting and fielding, but Lowdham offered little in chasing such a score. Craig batted well by actually avoiding batting. Bill refused to go cheaply until the first ball. Lowdham posting 45 in reply.......But they couldn't get us all out.
An enjoyable evening but outclassed by a high quality outfit.
Unlucky lads, but well done.
Green Caps Excel at Exciles
The Lowdham Green Caps maintained their 100% record at Willow Exciles on Sunday following a well constructed run chase. In an excellent team performance it was the all round contributions of Damien Greaves and John Noall that stood out as they guided the Green Caps home by 5 wickets with 6 balls to spare.
Lowdham looked sharp from the off with Noall (2/10) and Simon Stiansen (2/25) making the Wellow openers jump around in their creases. Both bowled without much luck and more than ably supported by Jack Dawn (0/11 off 8) the Green Caps restricted the hosts to just 40 in the first 20 overs.
Chris (I look, field and bowl more like Paul Collingwood than Paul Collingwood) Dutton claimed his first wicket for the club as Wellows improved to close on a very respectable 136/7.
Lowdhams run chase got off to a steady start with Ian Staples (28) and Jamie Manners (13) putting on a useful 40 for the second wicket. By the time the 5th wicket fell 40 were still needed off 10 overs and Greaves (34 no), having held the middle order together hit the winning runs with 6 balls to spare. John Noall finished 14 not out meaning the Divison 6 attacks still haven’t worked out how to dislodge the all rounder.
4 points and a place in the top reaches of the league are the Green Caps reward.
Wellow Exciles 136/7 (40 Overs)
Noall (2/10)
Stiansen (2/25)
Greaves (1/17)
Lowdham 137/5 (39 overs)
Greaves 34
Staples 28
Naaké 21
Saturday Games OFF (May 8)
Both Saturday Lowdham Team's games have been called off due to the weather.
Lowdham Midweek Team
Lowdham midweek team retains their seasons 100% record.
A depleted Lowdham midweek side maintained a strong start to the season gaining a win over the only team to defeat them in a friendly match of last season, (DTS).
Lowdham (Skippered by birthday boy Jack Dawn) won the toss and decided to don the batting pads. An aggressive approach by the opener saw Lowdham of to a good start, before Louis being the consummate club all-rounder decided to he was better placed scoring and decided to dolly one up to the covers.
An overdue splendid innings by Naake in the middle order encouraged Lowdham to total up an impressive 111 of their allocated 18 over’s.
Taking to the field Lowdham rarely gave cause for concern. Morris balling splendidly from the beck end gave nothing away. Chris (Collie) Dutton fielded...errm well like Collie, hitting the stumps for fun on run out chances.
DTS finished their allotted over’s falling some 40 runs short.
Good effort Lads.
Man of the Match: Lloyd Naake
Green Caps Off to winning Start
Lowdham Sunday 1sts got of to a winning start in their inaugral game at home to Thurgaton on 2nd May. An impressive ground clean up to get rid of more than a little water was followed up by an equally impressive display.
The Green Caps won the toss and inserted Thurgaton, quickly having them pegged back at 18 for 4 thanks to tight aggressive bowling from Simon Stiansen and John Noall. Equally tight bowling from the change bowlers restricted Thurgaton who boasted a 100% record coming into this game to 83 all out in 33 overs.
Louis Gray and John Noall got the chase off to a solid start. John striking 38 before retiring because he was hungry. Despite a middle order scare, Dale Rippey hit the winning runs for a 5 wicket victory with over 21 overs to spare.
Thurgaton 83 all out
Hembury 2/13
Greaves 2 /1
J. Dawn 2/13
Lowdham Green Caps
84 / 5
Noall 38
Lowdham Green Caps won by 5 wickets.
